Hutton & Smith Brewing Co. pours its beer at a taproom on East M.L. King Boulevard downtown. The name nods to James Hutton and William Smith, two pioneers of geology, and the geology theme carries into beers like Igneous IPA, Tectonic Session IPA and The Good Schist pale ale, along with a soft spot for cats. The year-round lineup also includes Basecamp Blonde, Promenade NEIPA and a Mexican lager, with seasonal releases through the year, and the core beers come in cans. According to its website, the brewery got its brewing license in 2015, later added a larger production brewhouse on Riverside Drive, and now distributes in Tennessee, Alabama and north Georgia. Its website says the taproom is 21 and up and dogs are welcome. An event room can be booked for private events, which are open to all ages.
