Summer Solstice Sunset at Sunset Rock

June 21 is the longest day of the year, and there's no better way to celebrate than watching the sunset from Sunset Rock on Lookout Mountain. The overlook faces west across the Tennessee Valley, and on clear evenings the sky lights up in oranges and pinks that are genuinely breathtaking.

The hike to Sunset Rock from the Cravens House trailhead is about 2 miles round trip and moderate difficulty. Bring water, wear good shoes, and arrive early enough to claim a spot on the rock - it gets crowded on summer evenings.
